Flying with Turkish Airlines and using my Star Alliance Gold membership, I had the chance to visit several international airport lounges. This article shares photos and impressions focused on atmosphere and food—perfect for those planning upcoming trips.

United Kingdom | London Heathrow (LHR)
- Lounge：Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge (Terminal 2)
- Access：Turkish Airlines flight + Star Alliance Gold
- Facilities：Showers, bar, limited seating
- Food：Curry, stir-fried noodles, salad, fruit
- Notes：Terminal 2 has multiple lounges—Lufthansa and United in Area A, Air Canada and Singapore in Area B. It takes ~20 min to walk between A and B, so choose one close to your gate.
Bulgaria | Sofia (SOF)
- Lounge： Aspire Lounge / Terminal 2
- Access： Star Alliance flight + Gold member (1 guest allowed)
- Facilities： Small but quiet, alcohol served
- Food： Cured meats, nuts, light snacks
- Notes： Easy to access in a small airport. Surprisingly good selection of
Spain | Bilbao (BIO)
- Lounge： Sala VIP Lounge
- Access： Star Alliance flight + Gold member
- Facilities： Small but uncrowded and comfortable
- Food： Quiche, ham, salad, pudding, wine
- Notes： Easy to reach. Spanish tapas-style food. *Passport control happened just before boarding.
Italy | Milan Malpensa (MXP)
- Lounge： Montale Lounge / Terminal 1
- Access： Star Alliance flight + Gold member
- Facilities： Spacious, kids’ room, smoking area, lockers, showers
- Food： Sandwiches, cheese, cupcakes, fruit, wine
- Notes： Well-equipped facility, but no hot meals.
Italy | Rome Fiumicino (FCO)
- Lounge： Plaza Premium / Terminal 3
- Access： Star Alliance flight + Gold member
- Facilities： Small, shower status unknown
- Food： Pizza, hot pasta, light snacks
- Notes： Limited space, but warm food is a plus.
Netherlands | Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS)
- Lounge： Aspire Lounge
- Access： Star Alliance flight + Gold member
- Facilities & Food： Not recorded
- Notes： Only recall drinking Heineken—details missing!

Greece | Athens (ATH)
- Lounge： Aegean Business Lounge (Goldair Handling), Terminal A
- Access： Star Alliance flight + Gold member (Olympic Air excluded)
- Facilities： Sofas you can lie down on, lots of juice & yogurt
- Food： Light breakfast, fruit, wine
- Notes： Great for mornings. Aegean included, but not subsidiaries.
Germany | Düsseldorf (DUS)
- Lounge： Hugo Junkers Lounge (Gate C)
- Access： Turkish Airlines (Gate C) + Gold member
- Facilities： Split into 2 identical sides, great beer selection
- Food： Salad bar, hot food, snacks
- Notes： Solid beer variety, classic German style. Showers? Not sure.
Croatia | Zagreb (ZAG)
- Lounge： Primeclass Lounge
- Access： Star Alliance flight (e.g., Croatia Airlines) + Gold member
- Facilities： Clean, cozy
- Food： Some hot meals, mostly light snacks
- Notes： Shared departure area means lounge usable even on domestic flights.
Croatia | Dubrovnik (DBV)
- Lounge： Sky Lounge
- Access： Star Alliance flight (e.g., Croatia Airlines) + Gold member
- Facilities： Small, lounge differs by Schengen/non-Schengen
- Food： Sandwiches, salads, alcohol
- Notes： Quiet and calm, very fresh salad. Watch lounge location.
Asia
South Korea | Incheon (ICN)
- Lounge： Asiana Business Lounge & Singapore Airlines Lounge
- Access： Star Alliance flight (e.g., Asiana) + Gold member
- Facilities： Showers (limited time), plenty of seats, calm atmosphere
- Food： Shin Ramyun, hot meals, salad bar
- Notes： Both lounges were accessible. Asiana had Korean dishes; Singapore Airlines lounge was sleek and quiet.
Africa
South Africa | Johannesburg (JNB)
- Lounge： South African Airways Lounge (Bidvest Premier Lounge)
- Access： Star Alliance flight + Gold member, or paid entry (£35)
- Facilities： Showers, quiet spaces, many seats, meeting rooms
- Food： Hot dishes including Asian and African options, snacks, desserts
- Notes： Spacious and comfortable with good food variety. Showers & power outlets included.
